Mothers day flowers

Mothers Day Flowers

Done by my 4-6 year olds

The idea came to me as I was getting ready for bed one night. “Flowers, rice, bottles, and glue. I’ve got it all.” I’m so happy with the way they all turned out, and the mothers loved them so much! As we were making them the kids asked questions ‘what about water and dirt?’ not realizing the flowers are fake. My response was, 'is your mommy dirty?' They all said, 'NO!' Why rice? because mommy cooks nice. Flowers are sweet and pretty just like mommy. Then they all understood.

Flowers and Vase
(I wish the bottles were more clear to see the rice better.)

Putting on the last drops of glue.

Empty old plastic glue bottles.
(I love to Recycle! and I'm going to use the lids for something?)

Small fake flowers (Someone gave me for free.)
The children picked out about 15 each.

Rainbow rice
The children picked the color then we used a funnel to put the rice inside the bottle.

The last part was the heart shaped label (not pictured) that said:

Flowers are for my mom who’s good looking.
Rice is for my mom’s good cooking.

They were used for center pieces at the schools Mothers day tea before they took them home.
